Marty McLendon, born in Jackson, Mississippi, resides in Corinth with his wife, Shelia, and son, David. He received his B.F.A degree in Commercial Art from the University of Southern Mississippi and an M.A. degree in Art Education from the University of Mississippi. He is currently an art instructor at Northeast Mississippi Community College in Booneville where he has taught for 33 years.

Marty began "seriously" painting in watercolor in 1978, and it is the medium in which he prefers to paint. Since then he has received recognition through local and regional juried competitions and has completed more than 100 commissioned paintings.

His art is a visual experience of his personal love for nature and the splendor of God's Handiwork. "I believe that my talent is a gift from God, and it is my desire to give Him glory through all of my art. I consider myself a realist; and I enjoy painting a variety of subjects, such as florals, landscapes, wildlife and architectural structures."

Most recently he has completed a series of paintings from Great Britain, after traveling there with his family during the summer of 1998. He returned to Great Britain in May 2000, July 2002 and November 2002. His art has been collected by both individuals and businesses in the U.S., Japan, Africa, and Europe.

The art displayed is but a sampling of Marty's watercolor paintings and exhibits the variety of subjects he paints. You may contact the artist if you are interested in purchasing originals, prints or commissioning him for a custom painting.
